We had a window man visit the house recently to give us a quote on new windows. He went around with this iPad and counted windows, etc. Elliott picked up on it right away and decided to jump in and assist. I found this, which is his own record of the our windows. I'm sure it makes sense to him...but I give him credit for even coming up with a system.
